Lecture by Honorary Doctor Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra
EMERGING MARKET MULTINATIONALS: CONTRIBUTIONS TO INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS RESEARCH
Appointment: On March 15th 2019, Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra will be appointed Honorary Doctor at Copenhagen Business School and the Department of International Economics, Government and Business
Abstract: In the last two decades, we have witnessed the transformation of many firms from countries considered relatively poor and underdeveloped into credible international competitors. Some of these firms have even challenged multinationals from advanced economies for global leadership in their industries. This sudden surge of emerging market multinationals has led to a growing literature and a lively debate on what their study can contribute to the development of international business research. In this presentation, I provide a critical overview of the phenomenon and advances in our understanding of these firms, and outline suggestions for future research on emerging market multinationals.
Short Bio: Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra (MIT Ph.D.) is Professor of International Business and Strategy at Northeastern University, AIB Fellow and co-editor of Global Strategy Journal.
