'GLOBALIZATION OF CHINESE ENTERPRISES. A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE AND FUTURE RESEARCH AGENDA'

Abstract:
Ilan Alon will talk about the leading theories explaining the internationalization of Chinese Enterprises.  This will be based in part on the presentation of luminaries at the annual conferences of www.chinagoesglobal.org.  These conferences have been held annually since 2013, supported by Harvard University, Georgia Tech, Rollins College Florida, Jacobs University Germany, the University of Macerata Italy, the University of Agder Norway and other institutions. After a review of the leading literature with several models discussed, Professor Alon will present his own latest work on the link between political risk and Chinese outward foreign direct investment. Copies of two recent relevant papers will be available to seminar attendees.

Short Bio:
Ilan Alon is Professor of Strategy and International Marketing at the University of Agder (UiA, Norway), and  Visiting Otto Mønsted Professor for International Business at the Copenhagen Business School. Previously, he was a visiting scholar at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE, China), Harvard University, Georgetown University, Cornell Professor of International Business and Founding Director of The China Center at Rollins College (USA).  He is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Emerging Markets and the European Journal of International Management. His research has appeared in the Harvard Business Review, Journal of International Marketing, International Marketing Review, Management International Review, Corporate Governance: An International Journal, and others.
Ilan Alon is President of the Chinese Globalization Association, which runs an annual conference on China Goes Global (www.chinagoesglobal.org), and serves on the governing board of the European International Business Academy (EIBA).
