New publication investigates technology upgrading in China?

Chinese manufacturing industries benefited to varying degrees from foreign firms in the commercialisation of frontier technology in the period 1995 to 2015. In contrast to the general perception, there is little evidence across all Chinese manufacturing industries that firms rely upon technology directly sourced from abroad for commercialisation of their frontier technology. Yet, the analysis shows that imports and FDI accelerated the intensity of technology upgrading.
