New collaboration between researchers at the Center for Leisure and Culture Services at Copenhagen Business School and the knowledge network for digital tourism, Tourlex, aims at assisting in the development of new tourism products as well as disseminating both existing and ground-breaking new research in the field of digital tourism.
- We want to enhance knowledge transfer and create new knowledge in the field of digital tourism. With our collaboration we aim to design and establish processes to make this knowledge applicable and available to the industry, so it can benefit both Danish tourism development and tourism research, says Ana Maria Munar, Associate Professor and PhD at CBS.
Win-win situation for both industry and the academic world
Danish tourism faces large challenges. During the last ten years, the amount of foreign tourists has been in decline, and the tourists who visit Denmark are reluctant to spend money, says Lars Nielsen, Chief Advisor at Tourlex.
- We see this project as a win-win situation for both this industry and the academic world and as a way to foster innovation and secure the best possible tourism development for Denmark, says Lars Nielsen.
The Danish tourism organisations will play an important role in all initiatives. Wonderful Copenhagen shows support for the new initiative and will take active part in expanding its influence.
- Cooperation between the research community and stakeholders in the tourism industry is vital for achieving results. The fact that the new collaboration specifically focuses on digital tourism, is a wise choice, since this field has great potential for creating new knowledge and new solutions to the challenges that the tourism industry is facing, says Ole Kjær Mansfeldt, Chief Advisor and Industrial PhD at Wonderful Copenhagen.
