New Ph.d. position in China studies at ARC

04/03/2017

Copenhagen Business School and the Department of International Economics and Management invite applications for a vacant PhD scholarship within the field of China Studies. The PhD position is funded by the Sino-Danish Center (SDC) secretariat.

Core research areas of the Department of International Economics and Management are 1) International Business, 2) Emerging Markets, 3) Asia Studies, and 4) Corporate Governance. It is the ambition of the Department to be in the international frontline in these research areas; to publish our research results in leading international journals; to have an excellent research environment; to seek synergy between research and teaching, and to have a strong partnership with the business community.

The PhD proposal must target the intersection of International Business and China Studies and have an empirical focus on China’s central and provincial state owned enterprise (SOE) sector. In order to support the nature and quality of this type of study, although not required, it is an advantage that the candidate can demonstrate language skills in Chinese.

Examples of research areas that such a scholarship might cover are:
• Chinese SOE governance, institutional pressures and political control in China
• Management decision-making in Chinese SOEs
• Economic and political incentives for promotion of SOE executives in China,
• The role of SOEs in Chinese economic reform and overseas investment policies

Closing date:  May 15, 2017
