Entrepreneurship as a People Business

We invite all friends, colleagues and business connections to spend an afternoon with us exploring the phenomenon of Entrepreneurship. We hope you will join us in celebrating the last four years of research of the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship.

Monday, January 29, 2018 - 16:00 to 18:00

Since January 2014 Mirjam van Praag has been the Maersk McKinney Moller Professor of Entrepreneurship at CBS. As of 1 March 2018, Mirjam will fill a new position as President of Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.

Please join us at the Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics in celebrating the footprints she leaves at CBS.

Entrepreneurship is a crucial but understudied phenomenon. Everybody acknowledges that the world would be different (and worse off) without entrepreneurs. However, not everybody agrees that studying and teaching entrepreneurship is useful.

This afternoon, we would like to convince you that both can be useful, interesting – and sometimes even fun.

We will show how we create our footprint by applying a people view, thus viewing entrepreneurship from the person and psychology perspective. During the seminar, we will present vignettes of research on the importance of, for instance, entrepreneurs’ role models, family backgrounds, over-optimism, stigma of failure or their early career experiences.

Sign up:  RSVP to lt.ino@cbs.dk by 20 January.
