CBS Shipping Students Volunteer for Danish Maritime Days

Volunteers from the CBS Shipping student network were highly visible helping hands at the many conferences, briefings, exhibitions, symposia, company visits, receptions and dinners and so on that took place at Danish Maritime Days during 6-10 October. For the high-profile lead event, the Danish Maritime Forum, the DMD secretariat needed approximately 30 volunteers, and those positions were filled largely by CBS shipping students.

“The Danish Maritime Forum brought together a broad spectrum of leaders from across the industry with the objective to find new solutions to the most important challenges facing the industry today and in the future. CBS Maritime is happy to have facilitated and advocated that shipping students got the opportunity to volunteer, as it provided a great opportunity for the students”, says CBS Maritime Co-director, Carsten Ørts Hansen.

Board member of CBS Shipping, Cand.merc. student Christina Legarth Jacobsen, goes on to say that: “at the event we were not only able to volunteer but also to observe how maritime decision-makers, company leaders and experts, actually get together to address global issues within the maritime area. Such lessons are hardly learnt within the walls of CBS”.
According to Christina Legarth Jacobsen the volunteering students were highly focused on doing a good job and to show that CBS Shipping students are not only academically strong, but also highly service-minded and efficient problem-solvers.

Besides volunteering for the forum, CBS Shipping also participated in another major event Danish Maritime Fair where they, together with students from DTU and the World Maritime University, showcased student’s ability as the future talent pool to the maritime industry.
