Research seminar: Macroeconomic Effects of Changing Demographics

On Nov 16, 2018 CBS and CBI (Central Bank of Iceland) will host a joint research seminar in Reykjavik, Iceland: "Macroeconomic Effects of Changing Demographics".

The research seminar features five academic presentations, including talks by senior economists Yunus Aksoy (Birkbeck College, London) and Gylfi Zoega (Birkbeck College and University of Iceland).There will also be presentations by younger economists, including Marías Halldór Gestsson (University of Iceland) as well as two PeRCent PhD students: Thorsteinn Sigurdur Sveinsson and Filipe A. B. Vieira.

The research seminar also has a roundtable discussion, focusing on the theme: "Robust Pension Systems: Lessons Learned". Professor Svend E. Hougaard Jensen (CBS) is moderating the panel discussion, and the panelists comprise Torben M. Andersen (University of Aarhus), Thorvaldur Gylfason (University of Iceland), J. Michael Orszag (Willis Towers Watson, UK), Arnór Sighvatsson (Central Bank of Iceland) and Arna Olafsson (CBS and the Icelandic Fiscal Council).

The research seminar ends with a reception, hosted by the Central Bank of Iceland, where Már Gudmundsson, Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, will give a speech entitled: ”Ten Years Later: What Have We Learned from the Financial Crisis?”
