Center for Financial Frictions (FRIC) has published the annual highlights for 2016 and we can report on another productive year in terms of scientific production, research conferences and outreach activities.

We had an outstanding rate of acceptance for the most prestigious finance conferences with 6 FRIC papers presented at the American Finance Association (AFA), 8 FRIC papers at the European Finance Association (EFA) and 3 papers at the Western Finance Association. Presentation at these conferences is a very strong indicator of the high quality of our research pipeline.

FRIC members also received grants, prizes and awards in 2016. Assistant professor Ramona Westermann received a postdoc grant as well as a Sapere Aude Research Talent grant. PhD student Sven Klingler received the 2016 Swiss Finance Institute Outstanding Paper Award and two other FRIC members Professor Lasse Heje Pedersen and assistant professor Paul Whelan each received a best paper award.

The annual FRIC events again featured an impressive list of prominent international speakers. The keynote speakers for the FRIC’16 Conference on Financial Frictions were Douglas Gale from New York University; Marco Pagano from University of Naples; George Pennacchi from the University of Illinois and Amir Sufi from the University of Chicago (Booth). We also invited 6 of the upcoming stars for the AQR Top Finance Graduate Award at CBS in Copenhagen to present their job market papers. If you missed last year’s events, be sure to sign up for the FRIC annual events in 2017.
