10/13/2015

This year Angus Deaton at Princeton University receives the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences “for his analysis of consumption, poverty, and welfare” for more than three decades. The Committee says that Deaton’s research has helped transform the fields of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and development economics. They also stress that understanding individual consumption choices is crucial to designing economic policy that promotes welfare and reduces poverty. This has been a unifying principle in Deaton’s work.

The CBS Economics Department has over the last ten years developed a strong research environment and expertise on consumer and household economics at all levels, highly inspired by Deaton’s work. If you want to know more about Deaton’s contribution to economic theory please contact Assistant Professor Natalia Khorunzhina at nk.eco@cbs.dk or phone +4538152403.
