Maya Mitre is a postdoc at the Department of Digitalization. Her research focuses on how digital technologies and businesses respond to and shape policies and regulations, as well as societal values. She is currently investigating the role of regulation and self-regulation in assuring cybersecurity within the shipping industry. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil), with one year of training at the Program on Science, Technology and Society at Harvard University (USA), and a MA in Political Science from Boston College (USA). Her previous research focused on the role of scientists in democratic decision making and the general tensions between expertise and democracy.
