Presentation

Maria Figueroa is Assistant Professor in Governance of Innovation for Climate and Sustainability. She is currently Post-Doc Fellow working on the Sustainability of Public Private Partnerships at the Department. She conducts research on comparative assessments of effectiveness of alternative policy instruments and organizational forms influencing innovation for climate and sustainability. She is interested in forms of government intervention that can favour social entrepreneurship in energy innovation particularly in the transport sector;  and also in the development of comparative analytical frameworks to strengthen knowledge building processes necessary to meet the challenges of a democratic transition to low carbon sustainable society.

She is involved in a number of large international studies dealing with global energy and climate challenges. She has been a Lead author to the Transport Chapter of the Fifth Assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and worked as Convenient Lead Author in the Global Energy Assessment published by Cambridge 2012. She co-edited the book “A New Sustainability Agenda” published by Ashgate in 2010.
