Niels Hulgård is a PhD fellow at the Center for Corporate Governance with a background in engineering, economics, and management. Through a mixed-methods approach using qualitative analysis and econometric modelling on yearly reports and financial statements of Danish companies, Niels seeks to investigate how corporate governance structures - specifically ownership structures - affect the purpose, delimitation and outcomes for the firm. The main type of ownership investigated by Niels is foundation ownership, as it is an ownership type inherently long-term in nature which offers a good ’laboratory’ for investigating ownership effects on firm purpose, delimitation, and outcomes.
