Activities under UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Sustainable Resources and Social Responsibility

This application is submitted in order to enable activities under UArctic Thematic Network (TN) Arctic Sustainable Resources and Social Responsibility (TN ASRSRS). TN ASRSR is conceived as a multi-disciplinary network for teaching and research exchange on sustainability issues related to resources in the Arctic and the contributions of private, non-governmental and public organisations through the concept of ‘social responsibility’. As noted in the TN description, the rationale of TN ASRSR rests on sustainability in the Arctic depending on both natural and social science knowledge, which calls for enhanced multidisciplinary understanding and knowledge creation. The proposed activities combine multi-disciplinary research exchange and teaching at tertiary level and above (PhD courses). The activities are designed to promote interaction between three groups: students as the future decision-makers and knowledge-providers, junior scholars and senior scholars. The activities aim at stimulating insights across disciplines to promote the understanding of the multidisciplinary complexities of sustainability of Arctic resources and enhance the contributions of actors through social responsibility (SR).
