The paradoxes of social media communication and the dilemmas of organizational democracy (PARSOCMED)

Abstract:

In this research project I investigate how publicly contested organizations attempt to regain control over authorship of organizational texts in social media. The study hereby aims at detecting the paradoxes of social media communication and the dilemmas of organizational democracy. The research stay abroad will serve a) as a field trip to conduct interviews with contested U.S. based organizations with broad social media presence, and b) to work with Cynthia Stohl and other scholars from University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) on a research article related to the research project.
