Value creation by design: Analysing & Measuring Design as a user‐centered innovation tool and as an economic factor of production (€Design )

Abstract:

Frascati and Oslo Manuals provide guidelines to analyse and measure R&D and innovation. However, design is not currently measured effectively. What is not measured cannot be managed. Our thesis is that design is key to connect R&D efforts with innovation, enabling the market implementation of new knowledge that is fundamental to boost GDP. We will conduct the necessary conceptual and qualitative researches to construct an economic conceptual framework of design; guidelines to measure the economic impact of design; and the process of how to apply design best practices into innovation projects.
