Danish M&A market trend analysis

In 2012, the total deal value of Danish M&A was €8.3bn. Although this was a decline from €10.5bn in 2011, the 21.8% market share it had of Nordic activity was the highest since 2005.

Inbound deal value in H1 2013 was down by 40.5% compared to H1 2012. If things continue as they did in 2012, this year may see more domestic deals than inbound deals. The largest deal in Denmark so far this year was the buyout of Unifeeder for €400m by Nordic Capital Fund.

Outbound deals in Q1 2013 amounted to €1.6bn, up a third on Q1 2012 and four times the €0.3bn seen in the previous quarter. However, Q2 dropped again to €0.9bn but with eight more announced deals than Q1.
