Morningstar Direct is a web-based research platform, which gives you access to comprehensive data and independent analysis on thousands of investments, spanning mutual funds, stocks, exchange-traded funds, open-end funds, and closed-end funds.
Its all-in-one design supports competitive analysis, performance evaluation, manager due diligence, and portfolio creation.
Morningstar Direct is organized by folders. When you login, you begin in Home. The left navigation for each folder works in a similar fashion.
The Main Menu bar at the very top does not change regardless of where you are in the application.
Excel Add-In
Morningstar Add-In allows you to retrieve various types of data points from the Morningstar databases within Microsoft Excel for further calculation, formatting or charting.

Access to Morningstar Direct
You can only use Morningstar Direct from dedicated PCs in the CBS Library Data Lab. They are placed on the first floor of CBS Library Solbjerg Plads.
- Log into the PC as usual with your username and password
- Click on the Morningstar icon on the desktop
- Then a new (virtual) desktop will open
- Once again click on the Morningstar icon. Now you have access.
Please be patient. It can take some time before the database is ready for use.
