Sustainable Development Goals

On 1 January 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at an historic UN Summit, officially came into force. Over the next 15 years, with these new goals that universally apply to all, countries will mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change. However, this responsibility cannot only be relegated to governments and businesses.

CBS takes an active role in addressing the SDGs. Examples of this are to be found in our newest UN PRME Report on page 59:

Student Engagement Initiative
To reach the goals within the next 15 years, an inevitable step is to engage with students and make the goals relevant and inspiring for this next generation of leaders. Consequently, educational institutions such as CBS hold a great deal of responsibility, which is why we at the CBS PRME office have launched a variety of student engagement initiatives to educate responsible leaders of tomorrow. Examples of student engagement initiatives are the Student Ambassadors, Students for the Global Goals on-campus event, and collaboration with many of student organizations that drive the responsible agenda.

You can read more about the Student Ambassadors program below or click here to read more about Students for the Global Goals.

Sustainability Influencers

The latest student engagement initiative is our Sustainability Influencers Programme. With this programme, we aim to make all university students not only aware of the importance of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals but also to empower and inspire them to act more sustainable. The programme is co-hosted by the Student & Innovation House, and welcomes not only CBS students but all higher education students across Denmark. As a Sustainability Influencer, you will become part of a team of Sustainability Influencers and engage with students and external stakeholders, spreading knowledge about the Global Goals.

Sulitest is one of our collaborating activities with the PRME Nordic Chapter. Sulitest is a self-evaluation tool with the aim of creating awareness and increasing knowledge of global issues and sustainable development. It has the ambitious vision “to develop Sustainability Literacy worldwide and empower engaged and committed global citizen to make informed and responsible decisions, and collectively build a sustainable future” It was created after the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio + 20) and designed to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The CBS PRME office has just recently started working with the Sulitest, however, we aim to apply the test to all new bachelor students at their first day at CBS.
