Strategizing Communication – what is it and how to do it in the 21st century?

Current media developments challenge how we can conceptualize and practice strategic communication. New communication infrastructures shift power from organizations to stakeholders, and reconfigure the meaning and influence of time and space. The idea of strategic communication as a linear transmission, and as a question of planning, is challenged, and replaced by an emphasis on networked practices and collaborative meaning formation. But what does this mean for theory and practice?

We invite to discussion of this issue, based on the recently published book Strategizing Communication. Theory and Practice (2016, Samfundslitteratur). In order to set the scene, the authors will first present their views, followed by reactions from a communications scholar and a practitioner, respectively.
