Do you want to develop an analytical and theoretical foundation you can draw on in your work with financial problems? Then this programme is relevant for you. Those who enrol in the programme are typically employees or managers in the financial sector e.g. bank, mortgage credit, insurance, pension or others who work with financial operations and decisions.

HD2 Finance (Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Finance)) is concerned with financial planning and decision making in companies, which are useful in the assessment of companies’ value in addition to their operations and capital procurement.   Moreover, matters of accounting and fiscal frameworks are analysed.  Financial assets have a central position in the programme through courses as Income, Portfolio Analysis and Derivatives.

A HD2 Finance (Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Finance)) gives you insights into financial analysis on a high theoretical and practical level. The programme takes point of reference in the financial knowledge and research affiliated to the Department of Finance in collaboration with distinguished researchers and respected practitioners. The programme is thereby based on and continuously adjusted to the developments within financial theory and added new research results within the financial area while also assigning high priority to pedagogical teaching characteristics.

Programme Courses

HD2 Finance (Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Finance)) is a two-year programme completed with a final project. It is divided into a first academic year consisting of mandatory courses and a second academic year in which you specialise.

You are presented with the fundamental methods in financial analysis and valuation. We focus on the concept of risk and the connection between active diversification and portfolio risks in addition to uncovering financial risks.

1st semester
Fixed Income considers interest rates, term-structure theory, the different types of bonds and different measures of interest rate risk. Portfolio Analysis introduces investment theory and covers the composition of portfolios taking into account returns, risks, and diversification. Corporate Tax and Financial Statement Analysis consists of two parts. Corporate Tax deals with the taxation of companies and Financial Statement Analysis considers the content in the financial reports and the analysis hereof.

2nd semester
Derivatives and Risk Management focuses on a number of different risks affecting financial decisions. In addition, common derivatives related to these risks are covered. The derivatives are valued and it is described how these can be used for risk management. Corporate Finance considers how companies can optimize their investment and financing. The key concepts are capital cost, capital structure and company valuation. In the Seminar series in Corporate Finance an application-oriented but theoretically well-founded seminar in Corporate Finance is written.

In the second academic year, you have to take electives on 3rd semester while 4th semester is reserved the final project in which you have to illustrate analytical skills, structure the paper appropriately and apply theories and models on a relevant problem.

The teaching activities emphasise the inclusion of problems and tasks from the financial world.  Practical examples are therefore included during class to illustrate the financial theory. We use CBSlearn, which is an IT-based teaching platform, for the teaching activities. The programme is nevertheless not a virtual programme.

You should expect between 6 and 10 hours of teaching (one lecture takes 45 minutes) per week which are distributed on 2-3 weekday evenings (and some weekends).

Which competences do you acquire through the programme? You will also be familiarised with the legislative terminology regulating financial companies.

  • Hedge with derivatives.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of market data both on micro and macro level.

How does the programme benefit your company?
