Blue MBA is broader than core shipping businesses

The Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics (The Blue MBA) has come a long way since early 2001 when 12 students graduated from the programme at CBS. Since then, 150 students from all over the globe have graduated and the programme has changed significantly during that time.

In the past, participants were primarily from the inner circle of shipping companies but today students are coming from a wider range of shipping related industries and industries supporting the shipping business. Programme director, Irene Rosberg, contributes this in part to the proven value companies are getting from the programme. Students’ assignments, in particular the final Integrating Strategy Project, are based on their current companies and participants are given the opportunity to apply what they are taught to practical issues at their own company.

The diverse background of the classroom, both in nationality and gender, but also in the professional background and industry segments represented is an important aspect of the Blue MBA programme. “In today’s competitive world, to keep a good position in the market you need to have a good knowledge not only about the business you are in, but also about the other relevant industries around your business which impact your performance,” says Irene Rosberg.
