The first day: The Copenhagen MBA class of 2020 on the cusp of a new adventure.

On 9 September 2019, 36 talented individuals representing 17 nationalities met for the first time in the Copenhagen MBA classroom. Over the coming year, these international professionals will form tight bonds to last a lifetime, spanning not only borders but also industries, roles and functions.

As is custom, the aspiring MBAs spent the first back-to-school day acquainting themselves with their new environment, faculty, administration and CBS.

“It is always great to welcome a new batch of MBA students to campus,” said Programme Manager Rikke Jørnsdatter Nørgaard.“The energy is palpable when so many talented individuals from all corners of the world gather in one classroom and we are excited to support them on their journey to become fully-fledged MBA students.”

As one of their first classroom exercises, the class was tasked to communicate their expectations for the year ahead. Common themes that emerged was the wish to challenge each other in a respectful way, build a good network and stay open to incorporate new ideas and perspectives.

“It is wonderful to finally meet my class. From now on, we will learn something new about each other every day,” said Copenhagen MBA student Sabina Khamitovna Voetmann from Kazakhstan. “Today, I began a new and challenging journey, embracing that everything is new and different and that I am out of my comfort zone. Over the course of the coming year, I look forward to expanding my knowledge and skills, becoming well-versed in sustainable management, creating my own network in Denmark and abroad and integrating into Danish society.”

And with that, the Copenhagen MBA baton has officially been passed on to the next batch. You can soon follow their adventures, trials and tribulations on the MBA blog.
