Curiosity and social responsibility are essential in new CBS strategy
CBS has a new strategy. Following a year of intense strategy work the CBS Board of Directors has now approved a new framework and direction for CBS focusing on making positive change through collaboration with a wide range of external stakeholders, including the Danish business community.

The CBS Board of Directors approved CBS’ new strategy this week. The strategy has been developed over the past year and takes among others its point of departure in a wish to contribute to the solution of some of the large problems faced by society these years. The business community plays an essential role in finding these solutions.

- Our name implies that the research and research-based education we deliver to society revolve around the business aspect. We are now going to enhance this aspect within the framework of the new strategy, benefitting society in the best way possible, says Nikolaj Malchow-Møller, President of CBS, who is extremely pleased that CBS has succeeded in formulating an ambitious and socially relevant strategy for the future.

External check-ups along the way
The strategy is based on input from employees and students and builds on many of CBS’ current strengths. Additionally, external stakeholders have played an important part in the process, for instance, the business sector, the upper secondary education sector, foundations and various NGOs have helped test some of the thoughts and ideas serving as a basis for CBS’ new strategic framework and direction.

- As a publicly funded university, we find it crucial to be in sync with what society and our many external stakeholders expect us to contribute, not least in the important development of our education programmes. Therefore I really appreciate the commitment our students have shown during this strategy development process because they are the ones who are going to make the difference and for this reason their dreams and visions have been essential to us, says Nikolaj Malchow-Møller.

Collaboration is crucial
A strategy curiously seeking to solve some of the so-called big questions makes collaboration crucial for the future strategic priorities at CBS. Whether it is the current consequences of the global Corona pandemic, green transition or the gradual transformation into life-long learning, there is no doubt that a university cannot do this alone.

- Large and complex problems demand curiosity and a joint effort if we are to find long-term and sustainable solutions so I look forward to contributing across disciplines to an even greater extent and also work with the natural and health sciences. Moreover I look forward to collaborating with companies, foundations and other societal actors to find the best solutions, says Nikolaj Malchow-Møller.
