Denmark leading in establishment of European education reform

05/29/2007

Denmark ranks number two in Europe with regards to establish the European initiatives for a reform of higher educations. This appeared in a survey published at a European minister conference in London on 17-18 may in which Minister of Science and Technology Helge Sander participated according to a recent article in Copenhagen Capacity.

- Denmark’s ranking shows that the government is serious when it comes to internationalisation of the Danish educations. During the joint negotiations on the European level our task is to support the reform process in all the countries so that Danish students and universities will benefit maximally by the European education collaboration, says Helge Sander according to idag.dk.

Improved mobility for young European students was a central theme at the conference in which 45 European countries were represented:

- We have already started the process in Denmark. The Danish government will pass a new bill about foreign scholarships for Danish students. The government recently presented a marketing plan for Danish higher educations and it will be easier for competent, international students to obtain residence permit. Moreover, we support the establishment of more joint educations in collaboration with Danish and European universities, says Helge Sander.
