Blue MBA wins the Maritime Prize 2011

CBS' MBA programme in shipping and logistics wins prize for innovation and growth in the Danish shipping industry

The Maritime Prize is awarded every two years to a person or organisation deemed to have made a special contribution to innovation and growth in the maritime sector for the benefit of Danish companies or society. This is the third occasion on which the prize has been awarded.

Popular programme

CBS developed the shipping MBA programme as a response to encouragement put forth by industry representatives in 2000 to design a programme that equips executives to handle the challenges of globalisation. The programme has graduated 120 executives from 35 countries since 2001. 

-The Blue MBA has seized the opportunity to bring together academic research and business practices, combining the best that each may offer. Through the programme, participants who are representing all segments of maritime business, gain keen practical and analytical capabilities to enable the business to stay competitive, says Per Holten-Andersen, President of CBS.

Increased level of knowledge and innovation

Knud Pontoppidan, Chairman of the jury and the Danish Maritime Foundation emphasised that the Blue MBA has increased the level of knowledge and the innovation ability of the Danish shipping industry. Furthermore, a blue network has been created for the benefit of all industry stakeholders. The Blue MBA programme is structured to enable students to carry out their duties at their respective organisations, while completing modules and a final thesis related to their particular work.

The prize was established by the then minister for economics and business affairs in 2007, and was presented by Ole Sohn, Minister for Business and Growth, on 10 February at the Danish Design Centre in Copenhagen.
