Henrik will work on the project Beyond Experimentation: AI-Driven Business Model Innovations in the Maritime Industry, supervised by Professor Thomas Ritter (CBS) and Associate Professor Carsten Lund Pedersen (ITU/CBS). Supported by the Danish Maritime Fund, the project is conducted in close collaboration with maritime companies to explore how AI is reshaping the sector.

Henrik brings solid industry experience from Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he advised global shipping companies, as well as roles at BIMCO and Maersk. He holds both an MSc in Applied Economics and Finance and a BSc in International Shipping & Trade from CBS.

On choosing CBS, Henrik highlights CBS Maritime’s leading role in maritime business research and its strong connections to industry.

“In my view, CBS is one of the leading business schools in the maritime field, bringing together academic research with insights from Denmark’s strong maritime industry. CBS Maritime provides an excellent platform to collaborate with esteemed colleagues and to engage with an industry that is undergoing significant structural change. Furthermore, within the Department of Strategy and Innovation I benefit from an open and ambitious research community that values high-caliber research”, says Henrik.

Associate Professor Henrik Sornn-Friese, Department of Strategy and Innovation, adds:

“We are very pleased to welcome Henrik. His strong mix of consulting, industry, and academic experience will add real depth to CBS Maritime’s research capacity. His project on AI-driven business model innovation tackles a timely and important topic, examining both the opportunities and challenges AI brings to the maritime sector. We look forward to the new insights this work will generate for research and practice.”
