Acclaimed sociologist visits CBS

Next week the French sociologist Bruno Latour, head of research at the Department of Political Science, Sciences Po Paris, will give a lecture at CBS to a jam-packed lecture hall.
On Monday 24 February 2014 he will present his on-going project ‘An Inquiry into Modes of Existence’ (AIME) with the project’s other participants.
CBS Public-Private Platform is responsible for the lecture and its academic director, Paul du Gay is looking forward to welcoming Latour and the AIME team.
- Bruno Latour is one of the most important researchers in the social sciences today. His interests cover a broad range of areas, including the natural sciences, law, politics and religion, but they are brought together in an ambitious exploration of a reinterpretation of what ‘modern’ means. It’s a great pleasure to welcome him and the AIME team, explains Professor Paul du Gay.
The author of numerous books, Bruno Latour is especially well known for the book We Have Never Been Modern. The lecture will be based on Latour’s new book, An Inquiry into Modes of Existence: An Anthropology of the Moderns, in which he argues that we have never been modern.
