What will it take to establish and realize a comprehensive and inter-disciplinary program dedicated to Cultural Entrepreneurship as an upcoming field of practice, education and research? With this guiding question in mind, the workshop aims at further identifying the needs, questions, resources, potentials and pitfalls involved in such an effort.

For the workshop we have invited a group expert professionals working on and with education, projects, organizations and research related to Cultural Entrepreneurship in various ways. To open the workshop, seven participants will share their perspectives on Cultural Entrepreneurship as seen from, respectively, cultural institutions, working with children and youngsters, arts education, culturepreneurship, teaching and research. These contributions will encourage a productive exchange and debate amongst all participants. The workshop will end with end with a discussion of possible further steps (which can include anything from ‘just’ sharing viewpoints and experience to formalized collaborative projects).

The workshop is the second in a series of three which aims to map the nascent field of cultural entrepreneurship. The workshop series focuses on the current state of theorizing cultural entrepreneurship, the ways that cultural entrepreneurship is taught (in art academies, conservatories, performing art schools, film academies and in management education), and how cultural entrepreneurship is performed in contemporary society.

The workshop series is conducted in collaboration with and supported by the CBS Entrepreneurship Platform and the European Haniel Program on Entrepreneurship and the Humanities.
