Seminar on “The Institutional Logics of Love: The Order of Passion in an Intimate Field”

Roger Friedland will visit CBS and present some of his current work with John Mohr and Henk Roose titled “The Institutional Logics of Love: The Order of Passion in an Intimate Field”.

About Roger Friedland
Roger Friedland is Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has together with R.A. Alford developed the seminal concept of ‘institutional logic’ as an attempt to bring back society and contradictions in institutional theory’. Currently Roger works on the question of institution as a religious phenomenon, as the creation of regimes of practice, as conjoint orders of objectification and subjectification, and more. Using survey research and interviews, Roger is also working on the relation between eroticism, love and religiosity among American university students. In his work, questions in political theory, and the implications of politicized religious movements are important for how we think about the erotic and love as they enter the public sphere.
