In collaboration with the international www.porteconomics.eu initiative CBS Maritime will host the fifth annual Port Executive Seminar (PES) in October 2015. The seminar will bring together a group of CEO's and other executives in the European port sector and a group of leading Port Economics scholars from all over the world for a two-day workshop at CBS. The PortExecutive Seminar is a two-day executive training program exploring challenges faced by port managers and regulators.

- The seminar offers port and port-related professionals valuable insights into issues such as port competition, the green agenda for ports, port management and governance, public-private partnerships and global supply chains, and it furthermore provides a fantastic opportunity for dialogue and networking, says CBS Maritime Director, Henrik Sornn-Friese.

Henrik Sornn-Friese points to the fact that the 2015 Port Executive Seminar will be part of the ambitious and internationally scoped Danish Maritime Days platform of events, where the aim is to bring together a broad spectrum of leaders from across the industry with the objective to find new solutions to the most important challenges facing the maritime industries today and in the future.

A Society of Port Researchers
The Port Executive Seminar is arranged and facilitated by researcher affiliated to the Port Economics Initiative. The purpose of this initiative is to generate research-based knowledge about seaports. It is developed and empowered by the members of the PortEconomics group, which are actively involved in academic and contract research in port economics, management, and policy.

- Members are affiliated to a number of academic institutions such as: Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands), University of the Aegean (Greece), Institute of Transport and Maritime Management (ITMMA), University of Antwerp (Belgium), University of Napoli "Parthenope" (Italy), Kedge Business School (France), Solvay Business School at the University of Brussels (Belgium), Hofstra University (USA) and now also CBS, says Henrik Sornn-Friese.

Scholars in the PortEconomics initiative also collaborate with an extensive international network of academics interested in seaport studies and research, in all five continents.
- All these activities have resulted in an extensive list of publications. The members of the group are active in scientific production as well as contract research covering a wide range of issues in port economics, management and policy, says Sornn-Friese. He concludes by saying that:

- Along with hosting the PES 2015, CBS Maritime will assume chairmanship and thus become Associate Member of PortEconomics, which we consider to be an important achievement for the platform.
