Towards gender equality in boards and management

Register your company for the Code of Conduct for Diversity in Recruitment for management and boards and help promote equal opportunities. The optional code of conduct is the result of a collaboration between search companies in Denmark, the minister for equal opportunities and Copenhagen Business School (CBS). The code contains eight principles that can be acceded by all search and recruitment companies.

The process of having more women in leadership roles is not progressing quickly enough. Women make up just below 15 per cent of management in Danish companies and 19 per cent of the boards. More than 50 per cent of all companies in Denmark do not have one single female on their boards. For this reason, search and recruitment companies have initiated an optional code together with the minister for equal opportunities and CBS. The code is to contribute to greater diversity and have a general knowledge of recruitment for management and board positions for private and public companies as well as public authorities.

All recruitment and search companies can accede to the code and its eight principles for greater diversity in recruitment for management and boards. One of the central principles of the code is to make efforts to ensure that at least 33 per cent of the potential candidates that are presented to the clients are women. The companies also commit themselves to increase awareness among their own employees of the unconscious bias that may affect the choice of candidates. At the same time, the companies undertake to report data on the recruitment developments in terms of hiring for boards and management to CBS in order to monitor the effect of the code. The reported data will be treated confidentially and anonymised before publishing. Professor Sara Louise Muhr from Copenhagen Business School is in charge of the project. CBS will also hold an annual workshop with focus on results and exchange of experience.
