The Copenhagen Full-time MBA
What are the admissions requirements for the Copenhagen MBA?
The essential requirements are listed below. Please also see the Applying for your MBA section.
- Bachelor degree or an equivalent academic qualification*
- At least 3 years full-time work experience post-graduation
- A competitive GMAT score (of at least 600) or GRE score (of at least 300)
As part of your application you are required to write 3 essays, provide us with two references and upload your transcripts, CV and GMAT/GRE. Additionally, we require an IELTS score of at least 7 or a TOEFL score of at least 90. If your university degree was taken fully in English, or your workplace is in English, you do not need to provide an IELTS or TOEFL certificate. If selected, you will also be invited to an interview with a representative of our Admission Board.
In doubt about your eligibility? You are welcome to send us your CV to email@example.com for assessment.
Where can I find the application form?
We have an online application system, simply click here to access it. You may save your application and submit it at a later stage.
Do I have to take the GMAT before applying?
You can start and submit your application without having taken the GMAT/GRE yet. In that case you need to indicate when you intend to take the test (this date can’t be more than 3 months after submission of your application) and let us know as soon as you receive your test scores. In the meantime we process your application as usual and if you are selected for an interview and admission you receive a conditional offer. This only turns into full acceptance once you have taken the GMAT/GRE, reached the relevant scores and sent us your score report. You can find more information about the GMAT and your nearest testing centre on their website, www.gmac.com. Our School Code for the GMAT is JCZ-FT-20. You find out more about the GRE on their website www.ets.org/gre/. Our school code for the GRE is 0126.
What is the tuition fee and what does it cover?
For the MBA starting in October 2021, the tuition fee is DKK (Danish Kroner) 330,000 (approximately EUR 44,000 and USD 52,000). You will be invoiced in Danish Kroner. This amount does not cover books or living costs. Please see the here for the cost breakdown. There is no application fee when applying for any of the CBS MBA programmes.
Does the Copenhagen MBA offer any kind of pre-course?
Yes, for participants who need to refresh their knowledge of the fundamental issues relating to subjects such as Economics and Statistics, we run a one-week pre-MBA course.
How do I apply for a scholarship?
You can apply for a scholarship in the application form together with your application. We offer a limited number of scholarships for exceptional candidates joining the full-time Copenhagen MBA. These are merit-based regardless of your nationality, although we do also offer some merit- and country-specific scholarships. Please note that admission decisions will be made prior to decision on the scholarships. Admission decisions are not influenced by your application for scholarships. Due to the limited number of available scholarships, candidates should actively look for alternative sources of funding.
Can I have my credits from another course transferred?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to have credits transferred and be exempt from attending a course. A substantial part of the work undertaken during the 12 months is undertaken in groups. Not only will this be disruptive for this work, but that the participant may not be fully integrated in the class and therefore not benefit fully from the year.
Does CBS offer housing during the MBA?
If you are interested, the MBA programme administration will, in cooperation with the International Office at CBS, help find accommodation for you. It will typically be a room in a flat, which is shared between two to four MBA students. We have estimated that the housing costs will amount to around DKK 72,000 (approximately the equivalent of EURO 9,700 and USD 11,000) for the year. You will be asked to indicate if you are interested in the CBS housing when filling in your application for the MBA. We will enclose further information with your letter of confirmation..
Will I be able to work while attending the programme?
The workload is high and you will spend 50-70 hours per week attending classes, group work, preparation, project work etc. If you have entered the country on a student visa, you are generally allowed to work 15 hours per week. The programme however does not recommend working alongside your studies.
Is it possible for my partner to join me in Denmark, while I study for the Copenhagen MBA?
If you hold a residence permit as a student at a higher educational programme, you can usually bring your family here as well. A residence permit can be granted to your spouse, registered partner or cohabiting partner as well as children under the age of 18, who are living with you. See more details about accompanying family members for student visa holders here. It is advisable to always check the visa requirements for your particular country well in advance of your planned move.
Will I be able to get a work permit in Denmark afterwards?
Denmark has one of the best post-MBA visa systems in the world. Foreign students who have completed a Master's degree in Denmark and intend to stay and look for work can be granted a residence permit under the Establishment Card Scheme. The process for visa applications is usually straightforward and easy, and a significant percentage of the graduating MBA class generally tend to stay on and take up employment in Denmark.
Do I need to apply for a residence permit for Denmark?
All visitors to Denmark must have a valid passport to enter the country. Visa and residence permit requirements to enter the country may vary and are always subject to change, so it is always wise to check with the Danish embassy or consulates in your area before finalising any travel plans.
