Zoltán Fazekas publishes new book on how the media turns boring polls into biased news

The new book co-authored with Erik Gahner Larsen published by Palgrave Macmillan shows that volatile polls receive more attention, different coverage, and more public engagement, overall contributing to a change narrative even in times of stability.

This book offers a novel argument for why opinion polls, as presented to the public, are not representative of what most opinion polls show. We not only provide the theoretical framework to better understand how and why opinion polls that are available to the public are more likely to focus on change, despite most polls showing little to no change, but also demonstrate these dynamics empirically using several data sources and measurements from two different democracies (Denmark and UK) covering several years of political reporting.
