To Achieve Global Eminence in Science, Global Talent is Crucial

Based on data on the geography of Nobel discoveries that Max von Zedtwitz collected and analyzed with Tobias Gutmann and Pascal Engelmann (both at European Business School at the time), the Economist put together an article on how the share of foreign-born Nobelists has increased over time. Some countries, such as the United States, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, historically benefitted from immigrant scholars while others, such as Austria, China and especially Poland, saw future laureates emigrate. If current geopolitics persist, America is likely going to lose out on global science while China may gain.
