PhD defence: Iwona Sulinska

In order to obtain the PhD degree, Iwona Sulinska has submitted her thesis entitled: Complexities of Social Capital in Boards of Directors

Fredag, 6 april, 2018 - 13:00 to 15:00

The dissertation explores multiple facets of social capital in boards of directors and asserts that refocusing on perhaps difficult and inconvenient features of social capital is the way forward for advancing knowledge on the construct. It particularly focuses on individual and group level social capital, to reveal configurations of social relationships linked to firm performance and underperformance. By going beyond traditional methodological approaches, the executed empirical studies present explanatory power of fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA). To complement the findings, the dissertation offers a dynamic perspective on board social capital in the context of firm expansion, based on multiple social network case studies.
