Innovation and Internationalization
This thesis investigates the relationship between innovation and internationalization in EMEs. Drawing on the empirical studies of EMEs in China’s manufacturing industries, the overarching research question guiding this thesis is: how do international technology learning channels, namely imports, exports, inward FDI and outward FDI affect the innovation performance in EMEs, and in turn how does innovation capability impact EMEs' internationalization? In order to answer this research question and gain a deeper understanding of such relationship in emerging economies, this thesis employs several large data sets and various econometric methods to establish a multi-angle view from three perspectives, each of which is represented in one article.
