Richard Blundell is the David Ricardo Chair of Political Economy at the Department of Economics, University College London.
He has received several prizes, most recently the Nemmers Prize in Economics for his important contribution to labour economics, public finance and applied econometrics.
Blundell’s research has recently focused on how taxes affect labour supply depending on workers gender, age, and family composition. Another line of research has focused on inequality, both in income and consumption.  Blundell has found that consumption inequality has risen less than income inequality.
His published papers have appeared in American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Political Economy, Econometrica, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Journal of Econometrics, and other top journals. He has been on the editorial board of many academic journals and was editor of the Journal of Econometrics from 1992 to 1997, and co-editor of Econometrica 1997-2001.
His most recent research mainly focuses on inequality and his talk will address the ‘The dynamics of income inequality’.
