Overleaf is an alternative to Word and is great for papers with math, tables and figures because you control the formatting with code. It will save you a lot of time adjusting fonts, colors and spacing once you learn to use it. It is also very suitable for group work.

Copenhagen Business School now provides access to Overleaf Professional for all students, faculty, and staff who would like to use an online LaTeX editor for their papers. It is used worldwide by researchers, students, and professionals for creating technical and scientific documents, theses, dissertations, and academic papers.

Overleaf is an online LaTeX editor designed to make the process of writing, editing, and publishing scientific documents seamless and efficient.
It provides an interface that allows multiple users to work on a document simultaneously, making it ideal for collaborative projects. It has two modes for editing a code-based view and a visual mode, making it very different from Word.

You can compile your text at any time to instantly see what the final document will look like.

Why use LaTex in Overleaf?

Using LaTeX, you have precise control over the formatting of your document. This makes LaTeX great for tasks involving mathematical formulae and tables.
It works really well when you write technical assignments or collaborate with others in real time on large papers. But it has a slightly steeper learning curve than other word processing programmes. If you like coding, you’ll love LaTeX. And, if you don’t, you’ll appreciate Overleaf’s user-friendly interface.

Pre-set templates

There is a wide range of templates to choose from in Overleaf, such as article formats, CVs, and thesis formats. The templates offer you the necessary codes to get started but you can also just start a document from scratch.

Add references and sync

Overleaf integrates with reference management tools like Mendeley and Zotero. This means that you can import references from your Mendeley library and use them in Overleaf to make citations and reference lists.
You can also synchronise with Dropbox or GitHub.
