The programme draws on five academic fields:
During the entire programme, students conduct project-based research and analyse current issues. Second and third year projects usually involve actual companies or organisations related to Asia.
International Business Economics. These courses integrate basic economic theory, business economics, strategy, financial statement analysis, marketing, organisation and international business and management.
This foundation is combined with other courses exploring the development and current status of the Asian economic situation.
Languages: Chinese or Japanese. Language studies in Chinese or Japanese train you to read, write, speak and understand your chosen language. The courses provide in-depth knowledge of Japanese or Chinese business, society and culture. If you have no prior knowledge of Chinese or Japanese, you may be admitted to a one-year Preparatory Course.
Comparative Social Analysis. This field imparts an understanding of the development and nature of different societies as well as a firm theoretical background for the analysis of different economic, political, social and cultural traditions.
Communication. This field integrates the theory and the practice of communications in relation to corporate, national and international relations. Issues concerning internal and external organisational and cross-cultural communications are also integrated into the ASP syllabus.
Interdisciplinary Research Methods. These courses provide students with a thorough introduction to social science methods for interdisciplinary research. Simultaneously, English academic writing skills are enhanced and refined. They reinforce the aim of the overall programme and integrate the various academic disciplines.
