My PhD study aims to the investigation of Multinational Corporations (MNC) as socio-political actors in the global system. Globalization has resulted to the fading of the liberal democratic division of labor between politics and economics. MNCs operating in a system lacking a highest authority not only avoid governmental supervision, but also regulate policies regarding issues of public interest. By studying Danish MNCs operating in China thus, I seek to understand if and how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) enables/facilitates the conversion of the economic wealth of MNCs into sociopolitical power and influence. The PhD study is funded by the Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC).
