CBS awaits completion of agricultural report

Through a disclosure request, Radio Denmark (DR) has gained access to e-mails associated with the formation of the so-called agricultural report and the authoring researcher. Against this background, DR has initiated a discussion about the quality of the report. Good research practice is crucial to CBS, says Peter Møllgard, Dean of Research. In the interests of the principle for freedom of research, CBS awaits the final report.

Peter Møllgard, Dean of Research at CBS:
"CBS supports open research activities - not least in terms of who is funding research. It is common for a research institution to collaborate with organisations, foundations and companies about research. We encourage research collaboration as it increases the relevance for society. "

"The formal agreement between CBS and the association Bæredygtigt Landbrug (sustainable agriculture) is a standard agreement about payment of DKK 405,834 to CBS. The agreement ensures arm's length and the possibility of making a report that complies with all the requirements for good research practice."

"The report is incomplete and work-in-progress. In the interests of the principle for freedom of research, CBS awaits the receipt of the final report before we make a decision as to examine the contents of the report or the way in which it has come into existence. We expect the final report to be ready for publication around New Year and that the researcher will listen to relevant feedback from research peers."

"If the final report is still criticised, it will seem natural to present it to the research practice committee. The research practice committee is a group of experts, who - independent of CBS' Senior Management - can investigate the quality of the report and the way in which it has been created. The committee will automatically look into the report if a complaint is lodged against the report."

Good research practice is crucial to CBS and our reputation. Should research or a report become subject to heavy criticism from the research practice committee, the consequences may be severe."
