Graduate Admission - Step 3

STEP 3 - OUR ANSWER: When we have finished assessing your application you will receive a letter with our answer to you. On this page you can read about the various types of letters you can receive. You can also find instructions on how to proceed, depending on the answer that you have received. It is here that we also publish statistics about previous years' admission.

Enrollment

The Graduate Admission pages are currently being updated for the 2017 admission year and are subject to changes.

Application answer

You will receive a letter with our answer to you in Admission Flow. The letter will be available 15 June.

An email will also be sent out with a link to your application.

Log in to your application using the link in the e-mail that you have received. Check your spam filter/junk folder, if you have not received an email.

When you log in, you will normally be directed straight to the page with the answer. If this does not happen, navigate to the last step in the application using the right menu. Click the ”Letter” button to open a separate window. The letter with the answer to your application will be visible in the document list. It is important that you read the letter carefully, and only afterwards confirm your place of study - if you are offered one.

If you have problems logging in:

* you have forgotten your username: contact the IT Support at help@student.cbs.dk
* it looks like your application is gone: you have several applications (unfinished as well as submitted) and you are trying to log in with the wrong username; you are to contact the IT Support at help@student.cbs.dk.
* you have forgotten your password: click on "Send me my password" on the logon page.
* you have asked for your password to be sent to you, but have not received it: first, check your spam filter /junk folder; if you still haven't received an email, you are to contact the IT Support at help@student.cbs.dk.
* you get a "timeout" message: normally, this is because many applicants are trying to log in at the same time or because your login session has expired. Try logging in again - make sure to use the direct link in the email you have received.

Remember that if you have questions on your application and our answer, you are to make a note under 1.4 in your application in Admission Flow.

The admission letter

The admission letter informs you if you are accepted at any of the graduate programmes that you applied for. Below you can read more about how to confirm your place of study, if you are offered one. You can also read more about the various types of letters you can receive.

Accepting your place of study
If you are offered a place of study at one of the programmes you applied for (i.e. you are fully accepted or conditionally accepted), you will be asked by the system to accept or reject the offered place of study.
You must accept or reject the offered place of study by the deadlines indicated below:

Deadlines:
Applicants who were selected to receive a scholarship: 15 March at 12 noon CET
Applicants who must pay tuition fee and need a student residence permit to study at CBS: 1 June at 12 noon CET
Applicants who were offered a place of study 15 June: 22 June at 12 noon CET
If other deadlines apply, this will be mentioned in your letter of (conditional) acceptance.

What does accepting a place of study mean?
It means that you have reserved your place of study and are officially enrolled in the offered programme from 1 September. If you do not accept the offered place of study by the deadline given above, you will lose the offered place of study. You will not be offered a place at a lower priority.

What if I change my mind?
If you have accepted the offered place of study, but then you change your mind and decide not to study at CBS after all, you must withdraw from the programme. You cannot do this automatically through Admission Flow. If you change your mind before 1 September, you are to make a note in Admission Flow stating that you do not wish to start the programme. If you change your mind 1 September or later, you are to withdraw from the programme using the withrawal form available at my.cbs.dk / My studies > Study planning > De-enrolment

What does rejecting a place of study mean?
If you reject the offered place of study, you will not be offered a place at a lower priority. Also, you will not be able to change your mind at a later point.

Full acceptance
If you have received a letter of full acceptance, and there are no conditions attached to your acceptance, then the only thing you need to do is indicate if you wish to accept the offered place of study or not. Once you have confirmed your place of study, you are enrolled at the programme and your application process is completed.
PDF icon Read here if you have questions regarding your status as FULLY ACCEPTED

Conditional acceptance
If you have received a letter of conditional acceptance for a certain programme, then you are not fully admitted at the programme until you have fulfilled all the requirements for admission listed in your letter.

Read your letter of conditional acceptance carefully and make sure you understand what the conditions are and by when they need to be fulfilled. If you have any doubts contact us as soon as possible via Admission Flow.

Remember that you must confirm or reject the offered place of study.

If you accept the offered place of study, it is important that you remember to upload documentation proving that you have fulfilled the remaining conditions no later than study start. You are enrolled at the programme only provisionally and your enrollment will be annulled if you do not fulfil all the conditions by study start.

It is important to document that you fulfil all the conditions as soon as possible because you need a letter of full acceptance to register yourself as a EU resident in Denmark and, in many cases, also to obtain financial support for your studies from your home country.

There are three categories of conditions:

Language requirements:
The language requirement must be fulfiled and documented in order for your acceptance to a graduate programme to be completed. You cannot fulfil the language requirement after you begin your graduate studies at CBS.

Courses:

Courses, that are not a part of your bachelor degree, taken outside CBS (that you informed us about when you applied): you must upload official documentation in Admission Flow, when you have passed the final exam(s).
Courses, that are not a part of your bachelor degree, taken at CBS (that you informed us about when you applied): we will check whether you have passed or not ourselves.
ISUP courses (that you informed us about when you applied) must be passed before September 1: we will check whether you have passed or not ourselves.

If you do not pass the courses listed on your letter of conditional acceptance before study start, you are not fully admitted and your admission will be annulled.

Bachelor Degree:

  • If you are from another university than CBS, you must upload documentation in Admission Flow as soon as you have obtained your bachelor degree but no later than September 1. See the table below for general and country-specific instructions regarding what documentation is necessary in order to document that you have finished your bachelor degree.
  • If you are from CBS, we check ourselves to see whether you have finished your degree.

If you cannot finish your bachelor degree by study start, then you normally are not allowed to begin studying a master's programme, since obtaining a bachelor degree is one of the entry requirements for all CBS master's programmes. A dispensation to be enrolled at the first semester at the master's degree (meaning that you will be allowed to attend classes and take the exam) while you are finalizing your bachelor degree may be granted under certain circumstances, and only if you are studying a bachelor degree at CBS.

If you are not studying a bachelor degree at CBS:

You cannot get a dispensation if you are not studying a bachelor degree at CBS.

If you are studying a bachelor degree at CBS:

In order to be granted a dispensation, CBS Admissions must find that it is feasible for you to pass the missing courses that you need in order to finish your bachelor degree while doing graduate level courses corresponding to a full semester load. Your request for dispensation must therefore be as specific and as detailed as possible. If you wish to apply for a dispensation, you must upload a request for dispensation in Admission Flow (see more details on how to apply for dispensations at Step 2 - Your application). Please note that your request for dispensation will only be processed after you have been offered a place of study and have confirmed it via Admission Flow.

Country Documentation and procedures
In general

An undergraduate grade transcript showing that you have completed 180 ECTS-points is not sufficient. The "finish your undergraduate degree" condition will only be removed from your letter of acceptance when you have uploaded one of the following:

a) your final bachelor diploma, OR

b) an official letter from your university, clearly stating that the bachelor degree has been awarded, and the date on which it has been awarded, OR

c) an official grade transcript, clearly stating that the degree has been awarded and the date on which it has been awarded.

Denmark

An undergraduate grade transcript showing that you have completed 180 ECTS-points is not sufficient. The "finish your undergraduate degree" condition will only be removed from your letter of acceptance when you have uploaded one of the following:

a) your final bachelor diploma, OR

b) an official grade transcript clearly stating that "the student has graduated" and indicating the graduation date.

Italy

You must register for and graduate in the spring/summer graduation session in order to ensure that the general entry requirement is fulfilled and documented by study start. If you are planning on graduating after September 1, the general entry requirement will not be fulfilled on time and your admission will be annulled.

Sweden An undergraduate grade transcript showing that you have completed 180 ECTS-points or that you have applied for a bachelor diploma is not sufficient.

PDF iconRead here if you have questions regarding your status as CONDITIONALLY ACCEPTED

Rejected
You are rejected because you do not fulfil the requirements for admission. Possible rejection reasons could be that you:
1. did not fulfil one or several of the entry requirements for the programme
2. did not upload sufficient documentation
3. were not selected for the programme or for the concentration that you applied for
4. applied too late
5. did not pay the required application fee
6. did not pay the required tuition fee

Even though your letter of rejection may state that you have been rejected because you have not yet obtained a bachelor degree and/or do not fulfil the English language requirement, these two reasons are not in themselves reasons for rejection at this point of time. Your rejection is, in fact, due to some unfulfilled specific entry requirements, or due to selection criteria, which are also listed in your letter. We are, however, obliged to list all the entry requirements that are not fulfilled at the time when your letter of rejection is written.

Also, if you do not fulfil the general entry requirement of having an academic bachelor degree and/or a bachelor degree within the required area, this in itself is not a reason for rejection. Please read more about the general entry requirement on the programme's individual admission and entry requirements page.

If you wish to apply for admission to the same programme next year, you are to make sure that you fulfil the entry requirements; however, please note that fulfilment of the entry requirements does not guarantee admission.

In case any programmes have available places, these will be offered in the Late Application Round in August, please see below. In 2016 there are no places available in the Late Application Round.

Questions about the admission letter

Here you can read more about what you can do if you have questions regarding the answer to your application.

Missing admission letter
Keep an eye on the website – we will announce when we have finished uploading the letters with the answers for all the applicants.

If by the end of the day you have not received an e-mail informing you that there is an update to your application (remember to check your Junk E-mail folder too!), log in to your application in Admission Flow and check if your letter has been uploaded under ”Enclosures”.

If you cannot find a letter, leave us a note under ”Applicant Notes” asking for an explanation. In case you have created (and submitted) several different applications or appraisals, remember also to check that you are logged in to the correct application, with the correct username.

Contact the IT Student Helpdesk if you have forgotten the username to your application.
Questions on your acceptance/rejection
If you do not understand the text of your letter of acceptance or rejection, make sure to read the information on these pages, as well as the FAQ pages.

If you still have questions regarding your letter of acceptance or rejection, contact Admissions Office via ”Applicant Notes” in Admission Flow and ask for a clarification. Remember that during peak times it can take a while before we can answer your note – but we will answer it.

Appealing
What can you appeal against?
The conditional letter of acceptance/letter of rejection that you have received is termed a "decision", meaning that we have made a decision concerning your application. Under Danish law you may appeal our decision if you believe that the legal basis for the decision is not correct and/or not in accordance with the rules and regulations governing admission at higher education in Denmark. You cannot appeal our professional judgement, as CBS Admissions Office's decision is final and cannot be tried before any other authority.

Contact us before you appeal
We always recommend you to contact us in either case, as this may clear up any misunderstandings or mistakes.

When you appeal

CBS Legal treats complaints on behalf of the president. Therefore, the complaint is to be addressed to the president and sent to CBS Legal, Solbjerg Plads 3, 2000 Frederiksberg or by e-mail to legal@cbs.dk.

Please note that CBS Legal does not make a re-assessment of your application. CBS Legal checks whether your case has been treated in accordance with applicable rules and practice, see the Ministerial Order on Admission and Enrolment on Master’s (Candidatus) Programmes at Universities. Consequently, CBS Legal does not re-assess your case as regards the professional assessment made by Student Affairs.

Time limit
The letter of appeal must be submitted within two weeks from the uploading of the letter and must be specific as to what you wish to appeal.

Late applications

It is not possible to apply for admission after the given deadlines; also, it is not possible to change priorities after the deadline. This means that you cannot switch programmes or concentrations after having received your answer.

Please note that most of the programmes at CBS only start up once a year in September. Only the MSc in Business Administration and Information Systems - E-business has a winter application round.

Statistics on admission

Below you will find statistics on admission, including number of places and information on the use of selection criteria.

When applying this may give you an idea of your chances of being accepted to a certain programme/concentration.

Please note that even though all qualified applicants are accepted, this does not mean that there are available places or that you may switch to the programme or concentration in question.

NB: the selection criteria used for various programmes/concentrations and their respective selection quotas may change from one application year to another.
