Ravi Vatrapu is a professor of human computer interaction at the Department of IT Management of the Copenhagen Business School, professor of applied computing at the Westerdals Oslo School of Arts Communication and Technology, and director of the Computational Social Science Laboratory (http://cssl.cbs.dk).

Computational Social Science Laboratory (http://cssl.cbs.dk) conducts transdisciplinary basic research at the socio-technical intersections of computer science and social science with specific applications to managers in companies, teachers in schools and residents in cities.

CSSL's basic research program is aimed at explaining socio-technical interactions. CSSL's applied research program seeks to design, develop and evaluate big data analytics applications for managers (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics), teachers (teaching analytics and learning analytics), and citizens (public health analytics).

CSSL aspires to conduct engaged scholarship in the Pasteur's Quadrant. CSSL's objectives are not only to make seminal contributions to scientific knowledge as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications but also to create practical applications that yield meaningful facts, actionable insights, valuable outcomes, and sustainable impacts for organizations and society.

Prof. Vatrapu holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a Graduate Certificate in International Cultural Studies from the East-West Center & University of Hawaii, a Master of Science (M.S) in Computer Science and Applications from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Systems Engineering from Andhra University.

  • Big Data Analytics (Data-in-Business Minor)
  • Big Social Data Analytics
  • Social Media Management

Prof. Vatrapu  is currently supervising 10 PhD students and more than 20 Master thesis students. He is interested in supervising PhD and Master projects on big data analytics, computational social science, technical projects on the enactive approaches to the philosophy of mind, teaching analytics and organizational learning.

Other teaching activities
