China Executive Leadership Programme

The annual China Executive Leadership Programme (CELP) aims to provide a Chinese delegation of high-ranking business leaders with an understanding of the Nordic welfare and business model.

CELP is completely unique and gives strategic access to a wellspring of knowledge concerning the Chinese industry and the comprehensive restructuring that is taking place in China.

The business leaders come from some of the largest state-owned enterprises in China, and many of the previous years’ participants are now governors or ministers, so participants are from the political elite. In addition, the programme is approved by President Hu Jintao and every year it is evaluated by the standing committee of the Politburo.

The programme takes place over the course of three weeks in July in Cambridge and Copenhagen where four days are spend in Copenhagen. In Copenhagen, CELP teaching is provided by a combination of scholars from Copenhagen Business School and business leaders from A.P. Moller – Maersk and other major Danish companies. Besides that the delegation has over the years met with Danish government officials.

CELP was established in 2005 and is organised by Asia Research Centre, CBS, in co-operation with A.P. Moller – Maersk and Judge Business School, Cambridge University. The programme takes place over the course of three weeks in July in Cambridge and Copenhagen where four days are spent in Copenhagen.

CELP 2013

Asia Research Centre and Copenhagen Business School once again welcomed a delegation of 27 Chinese business leaders to Copenhagen from July 24-27.

In Copenhagen, the delegation visited CBS where they heard about the Danish welfare model and Nordic cooperate governance. The delegation also participated in a round table discussion with business leaders from five of the largest Danish companies. The topic for the discussion was ‘business leadership in large enterprises in a globalized world’ and gave the participants an insight into Danish companies’ approach to management, values and how to run a company in a globalized world.

Besides the above, the delegation visited the headquarters of A.P. Moller – Maersk, had an audience with His Royal Highness Prince Joachim and visited Ballerup Municipality to learn more about Danish welfare.
