Financial news and market panics in the age of high-frequency sentiment trading algorithms

We are delighted to reveal that Associate professor, Friederike Schultz, has just recently published her article “Financial news and market panics in the age of high-frequency sentiment trading algorithms” in SAGE Publications.

The article analyzes the influence of news media in US, UK and Netherlands on market panic in the financial crisis of 2007-2009. The study reveals that financial news can boost market panics. Greater transparency on network dependencies in the worldwide financial markets is needed in order to avoid market panics.
