Purpose

By bringing together scholars in human rights law, business ethics and organizational studies the workshop will form the basis for future academic collaboration through the establishment of a European Research Platform on Business & Human Rights. The Platform will coordinate and promote research, research development and funding, teaching to bring the human rights dimension into management education, and publications to share emerging knowledge on the implications of human rights for management.

Day 1 - Introduction and identification of key themes and issues

13:30-14:30 Participants introduce how business & human rights and management are currently addressed in their research and how they see potential and challenges for further integration, including further development of the ‘platform’
14:30-15:30 Key note speech, Dr. Michael Addo, Senior lecturer, Exeter University (UK), member of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights: ‘How understanding human rights matters to business management’

15:45-17:00 Group discussions
17:00-17:30 Groups report back
17:30-18:30 Plenum discussion of objective and activities of European Research Platform on Business & Human Rights for the purpose of future development and funding

Day 2 - Focus: applying research in teaching

14:15-15:45 Plenum discussion of how interdisciplinary research on business & human rights and management may be brought to strengthen research-based teaching at academic institutions

Day 3 - Focus: research, publications and wrap-up
