Undergraduate courses

At CBS, we are able to offer a wide range of courses to our exchange students. CBS is a Business School in a broad sense of the term, so we offer many cross-disciplinary courses that are business related in one way or another. We hope you will find all the courses that you need.

Undergraduate courses
spring 2014

How to Choose Courses at CBS
  1. At CBS, you can combine courses from most programmes. This means that there is a risk that some of the schedules to the courses you have chosen may overlap as the programmes only plan and coordinate their own courses. Since programmes are "lock step" at CBS, the programme students do not need to worry about scheduling overlaps. The advantage is that as an exchange student, you can choose courses that are not open to CBS students outside of that CBS programme.
Remember: It is possible to change courses after the initial course registration round. Round 2: 2-9 January and Round 3:30 January – 7 February, 2014. We will alert you about this via e-mail after all students have been assigned to courses.
  2. Find the courses that you would like to apply for here from late October:
    Undergraduate courses:  www.cbs.dk/undergrad
    Graduate courses:  www.cbs.dk/grad
Remember: Check that you fulfill the required prerequisites of the courses you have chosen.
  3. Find alternatives to your choice of courses. If your 1st primary course is not available, we will attempt to register you in your 1st alternative choice instead; likewise with your second, third and fourth choices. So Alt1 for Pri1; Alt1 NOT for Pri 2, 3, or 4.
Choosing alternative courses is extremely important, in case one of your first choices is cancelled, fully booked or you have an overlap in your class schedule.
Remember: If a course is very important to you, you should add a letter of priority signed by your home university. Students who upload such a letter will be prioritized for overbooked courses and the remaining spaces will be assigned randomly among the other applicants.
The priority letter must state the course(s) in question and why it is vital to you.
  4. Apply for your courses online after the link has been sent to your CBS e-mail approximately 1 November. More information here:  www.cbs.dk/app
Remember: There is a special application procedure for a small number of graduate courses. This procedure is explained under ‘Prerequisites’ of each course in question. If you apply for any such course, you should also apply for it through the online application system.
  5. Please note that a full-time course workload at CBS is equivalent to 30 ECTS, which usually means 4 courses. Therefore, you should apply for 30 ECTS as your primary choices and for 30 ECTS in your alternative list of choices.
Remember: Finish your application by 14 November, 2013. It is extremely important to meet this deadline, as your course choices help determine whether a course is offered or cancelled. Also, the online system closes after this date, and no course changes can be made until early January.
  6. At your home university apply for pre-approval of the courses you have chosen. Also get pre-approval of all your alternatives!
Apply for credit transfer for more courses than you need to follow, so that you will have several options of courses to change into if necessary.
  7. If you have questions regarding choosing courses at CBS, please contact us via one of the following e-mail addresses:
    Undergraduate students:  undergrad.intoff@cbs.dk
    Graduate students:  grad.intoff@cbs.dk

Undergraduate courses spring 2014
*NOTE: Offerings subject to change.*
*In most cases, you will find the course codes on this page do not match when you click on the course description. Do not worry about it. CBS is switching to a new administrative system and as a result all courses are being assigned new codes. The codes on this page do match the codes you will find when you register online.*

If you do not find a current course description for 2013-2014 for any of the courses listed below, please check the CBS course catalogue for all CBS courses at kursuskatalog.cbs.dk. Updates may have occurred after publication of links on this page. Remember, however, only the courses listed below are open to undergraduate EXCHANGE students. Any other courses you might find in the general CBS course catalogue are not open to exchange students.

If a program has so indicated, you may see which quarter the course is offered in the right-hand information box in the course description.
  • Q3 means that a course is taught in Quarter 3 in weeks 5 - 10 (varies with course) - full credit course, taught in half a semester.
  • Q4 means that a course is taught in Quarter 4 in weeks 10 - 15 (varies with course) - full credit course, taught in half a semester.
  • If there is no Q3 or Q4, the course is a full semester course.

The majority of CBS courses are worth 7.5 ECTS credits. Courses that have more or fewer than 7.5 credits are indicated below. Credits are also indicated in the course descriptions.

Unfortunately, many of the courses we are able to offer in the spring take place in the first part of the semester (Q3). However – within the requirements of your home university – we advise you to spread the workload as evenly as possible over the whole semester. In other words, please try to match full-semester courses and Q3 and Q4 courses to a total of 30 ECTS credits which makes up a full-time course load.
