Senior maritime executive Reynir Gíslason is to become the first Latin American ambassador for the Blue MBA. His appointment marks the fourth ambassador appointment for the programme and means that Reynir Gislason will champion the programme in the fast-growing Latin American region.

”Reynir Gislason has a great deal of experience within so many different segments of the industry, where he has long been prominent in executive positions," says Blue MBA programme director Irene Rosberg. "He will take forward our goal of encouraging participation by rising professionals in the shipping industry in Latin America in our unique programme that takes management education to new levels."

Reynir Gislason, who has been president of international freight forwarding firm IFS Group in Peru since 2008, is currently participating in the Blue MBA and will graduate in 2015.

“The Blue MBA provides me with a unique global overview of the shipping and logistics industry," he commented, "adding colleagues and peers to my existing network from shipping functions all over the world.”

Earlier appointees as Blue MBA Ambassador were Erle Kristin Wagle, Oslo-based manager of environmental performance at BW Fleet Management; Capt Michael P Elwert, Singapore-based director of group strategy, human relations and support at Thome Group; and Henrik M Christensen, chief executive of Guinea Shipping Corp and founder of China Logistics Club.
