Selected information from the report:

  • Net income was a loss of DKK 37m, which is in line with the budgeted deficit of DKK 35m. In order to balance its budget CBS must reduce spending by DKK 60m per year until 2017 and onwards.
  • To reduce costs CBS was forced to announce mass redundancies in November, which were nonetheless called off in January because 67 staff members entered into e.g. voluntary redundancy agreements. In the coming years CBS must now adjust its programmes to  fit having fewer researchers per student.
  • CBS’ biggest contribution to society is the students who graduate with a business and research-related degree. CBS had 2,117 graduates in 2014. Graduates continue to work primarily in the private sector, which is where 85 pct. find jobs, while 15 pct. find work in the public sector, and their unemployment rate is lower than the national average. Among PhD graduates, 48% find work outside academia, chiefly in consulting firms.
  • In 2014 CBS decided for the first time in many years that the number of students admitted to bachelor and graduate programmes would not increase compared to the previous year. With 26 pct. more people applying to CBS graduate programmes as their first priority compared to 2013, demand is not an issue.
  • Research from CBS has been published in a variety of major international journals. In 2014 researchers published 98 articles in journals listed on the Financial Times’ recognised ranking of the top 45 journals. In 2012 the number of articles was 49.
